Electric Myths
Soon in Palffy Palace
The group exhibition Electric Myths brings together works from the Bratislava City Gallery collection with artworks from the Art Collection Telekom. More than 40 artists critically engage with notions around technological progress, its social consequences, and the position of the individual in today’s world.

The exhibition Electric Myths at the Bratislava City Gallery will feature works by over 40 international artists. The group show places historic as well as the most recent acquisitions from the GMB collection in dialogue with works from the Art Collection Telekom, established in 2010 by Deutsche Telekom to support and provide access to contemporary art from Central, Eastern, Southern, and Southeastern Europe.
Through wide range of media, spanning sculpture, painting, textile, ceramics as well as photography, film and video, the selected works reflect broader socio-political phenomena and historical turning points that directly impact our lives.
Drawing on ideas regarding technological determinism, the exhibition contemplates mythmaking and the formation of collective imaginaries within the context of posthumanism, as part of a broader social evolution.
Instead of an anthropocentric view of progress, in which artificial intelligence currently acts as the supreme authority or driving force, the exhibition draws inspiration from other phenomena. The biological process of fermentation functions here as a political metaphor for the transition from centrally controlled power to a symbiosis of micropolitics, a network of smaller, interconnected forms of cooperation. At the same time, amidst the current ecological, technological, and societal transformation, the exhibition project creates an alternative and speculative space for liberation from fixed interpretations of the world and the prevalent deterministic narratives.
