The Ministry of Culture of SR in cooperation with the Union of Museums in Slovakia and the Council of Galleries of Slovakia by the occasion of the International day of museums (May 18) awarded the Bratislava City Gallery(GMB) with the title: Gallery of the year 2007 in the category B – regional, city and local museums and galleries.
The evaluated period was the year 2007. The GMB entered the competition with the following projects:
I. cat.: 1. acquisition – Alex Mlynárčik: Villa of Mysteries (placed in the permanent exposition Stories and Phenomena. Slovak fine art of the 20th century, Pálffy Palace, Panská 19), 5. scientific research activity – Sculptor Robert Kühmayer and Bratislava (Želmíra Grajciarová)
II. cat.1. exhibitions – Out of the city – Art in nature (Daniela Čarná), 2. publication activities: Out of the city (Daniela Čarná), Slovak graphic art of the 20th century (Zuzana Böhmerová – Ivan Jančár), Dreams on the crossing with reality. Slovak fine artists in their own words (Lee Karpiscak) New blood. Young Slovak painting (Ivan Jančár), Endre Nemes (Ivan Jančár), Coronation celebrations in Bratislava – graphic album (Jana Luková) Anton Jasusch. Painter and visionary (Zsófia Kiss – Szemán)
3. work with public – guides for children (Out of the city, Slovak graphic art of the 20th century, Daniela Čarná)
The award was received by the director of GMB PhDr. Ivan Jančár, May 19 at Trenčín Castle where at the same time PhDr Pavol Šimunčič, the director of the department of museums, galleries and libraries of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic announced the sixth annual national competition the Museum of the year 2008.

The rewards were received on the 22 April 2008 in the Primatial Palace by the director of GMB – PhDr. Ivan Jančár.
